CWI Named One of Best Places to Work

On September 13th, the employees at Control Works, Inc. in Milford enjoyed a day of celebration. Control Works, Inc. was recently named one of the top 50 best small & medium companies to work for in America. To thank employees and celebrate this award, CWI held a day long event that included a corn hole tournament, luncheon, ice-cream social and door prizes awarded throughout the day.

Control Works, Inc. was founded in 1983 by former owner Doug Strief, of Milford, OH. Its core business is designing and building control panels for the wastewater treatment industry. The company's office and panel shop are located on US Route 50 and employs approximately 40 full time employees. CWI employees participate in a 100% ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) which means employees have a vested interest in the success of the company.. There are approximately 11,000 ESOP companies in the United States with only 1,000 being 100% employee owned.

Control Works (under its parent company, SJE-Rhombus®) was ranked at #24. For this year's competition, companies were selected to participate in the selection process based on a 57-question survey to their workforce, completing a management questionnaire, and submitting annual reports, employee handbooks and other materials for review. Employees' survey responses (44,258 this year) count for two-thirds of each company's total score. The remaining third of the score comes from the Great Place to Work Institute's evaluation of companies in five areas: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie
